The Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction Announce 2015 Shortlist

The Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction

As much as I enjoy reading my way through the BBC Big Read, dedicating so much of my reading list to the list of both classics and contemporary greats often leaves me feeling slightly out of touch with the latest releases. Thus it was with no surprise that when the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction announced their longlist back in March I saw that I hadn’t read a single one of the twenty books.

Given the fact that I wanted to read the The Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction shortlist in its entirety I decided to continue with the BBC Big Reads until the shortlist announcement which took place at Hyde Park’s Serpentine Gallery last night.

The event was – as always – an inspiring evening, with fabulous speeches from co-founder Kate Mosse and chair judge Shami Chakrabati, both of whom are passionate champions of reading. The shortlist was announced to cheers from the audience and while Anne Tyler is the only author I’ve previously read, I’m intrigued to see what they all have on offer. More details on the shortlist can be found here, and do check back to read my thoughts on the shortlisted books.
