Instagram post 17941926832314708 Anyone else ever just bought a book because the cover goes with the background of your pic?! Asking for a friend here 🤪😂⠀
⠀
In other news, I’m making a list of authors who I’ve been meaning to read forever but never quite got around to and who I’m determined to tick off next year. Thus far I’ve got:⠀
⠀
* Virginia Woolf⠀
* Iris Murdoch (hence the purchase of this book)⠀
* Markus Zusak⠀
* Milan Kundera⠀
⠀
Are there any authors you’re hoping to tick off in 2020?
Instagram post 17854526065657811 Tis a rather gloomy morning in Sydney today so I’m throwing it back to a sun-drenched stay at the stunning @deuxbelettes.
⠀
What are you reading this weekend?
Instagram post 18082506208083807 Inspired by a recent post from @thereaderswardrobe, here are ten things that have been bringing me daily joy of late:⠀
⠀
* Getting up at 4.30am - this definitely isn’t for everyone, but I’ve come to love my early morning starts.⠀
* A daily hour of uninterrupted reading time - I put my phone on aeroplane mode and limit all distractions so I get as much reading time in as I can⠀
* Watching the sun rise over the ocean: when I moved back to Australia in September, I promised myself I’d watch the sun rise as often as I could, come hangover, hell or high water⠀
* A daily swim in the sea: I either swim first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening; if I have time I’ll go twice⠀
* Reminiscing on a recent trip to Byron Bay⠀
* Dogs 🐕 ⠀
* Prosecco 🥂⠀
* My daily iced coffee from @gertrudeandalice⠀
* Making new friends - I honestly speak to everyone and anyone who crosses my path and my life is so much richer for it ⠀
* My colour co-ordinated bookshelves 😂🤓⠀
⠀
What small things are making you happy right now?
Instagram post 18093900379128039 ‘I’m happier than I’ve been for years.’ said F Scott Fitzgerald after arriving back on the French Riviera, a notion I couldn’t agree with more now that I’m settled back into beautiful Bondi.⠀
⠀
Where’s your happy place?
Instagram post 17847897259702515 A question I’m always asked is how I make time to read so much (The White Album by Joan Didion will be the 80th book I’ve read this year), and while I often joke that all I do is read, drink Prosecco and sunbathe, I thought I’d share the ways that I maximise my reading time:⠀
⠀
* I wake up super early (4.50am) so that I can get a solid hour of reading in before going on a sunrise coastal walk⠀
* I put my phone on aeroplane mode and keep it out of reach while I’m reading. This has been a game changer.⠀
* I carry a book with me at *all* times. I even had one in my handbag last night when I was at the rugby match in case I had a chance to read it at half time 😂🏉⠀
* I carve out time for reading in the same way that I plot time for blogging, exercise, catching up with friends etc.⠀
⠀
Hope some of these might help those who want to up their reading game 🤓😂
Instagram post 18027186154230496 ‘There is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look.’ - Rupi Kaur ⠀
⠀
It’s been a while since I’ve jumped on @mirandasnotebook’s #dayofsmallthings so I thought I’d kickstart my Tuesday with three things that are adding some sweetness to my life right now:⠀
⠀
@kristinakikkik’s brilliant podcast Your Dream Life. I often listen to it while doing a sunrise coastal walk in Bondi and it’s currently my favourite mind food around.⠀
⠀
My twice-weekly Yin classes - I have to force myself to go because I find Yin really challenging, and I literally cried for the full sixty minute hip opener class I did last week 😂😭 but it feels good for my soul 🙏🏼✌🏼⠀
⠀
My book club in Bondi @gertrudeandalice. It’s often my favourite night of the month and I always feel so fortunate that I get to wang on about books to my heart’s content with lots of like-minded bookworms.⠀
⠀
Hope you’re all having a fab week friends ❤️
Instagram post 17867582662502862 They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content so mine will mainly be spent reading, brunching and coastal-walking ahead of a quick getaway to beautiful Byron Bay tomorrow 💞⠀
⠀
Happy Sunday friends. What are you reading this weekend?
